has a deep-held conviction to continue serving her community
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa City Council District 4 Candidate Jennifer Kenny is a long-time resident of Central Florida, where she dedicated her life to community service and helping others.
As a single mother, Kenny served an electrical apprenticeship with IBEW Local Union 606, obtaining her Electrical Journeyman license.
After a 20-year career in the electrical industry, while dedicating countless hours to volunteering with her Local Union throughout the community, she decided to follow her heart to pursue her passion for helping others.
She applied for and was offered the position of Central Florida AFL-CIO Community Service Liaison to Heart of Florida United Way.
During her tenure with United Way, she assisted individuals in the region with issues ranging from housing, unemployment, food assistance and other quality of life issues.
Kenny’s work with United Way prepared the way for her next opportunity. She would spend the next decade as an advocate for senior citizens with the Alliance for Retired Americans.
Prior to retiring, Jennifer went back to her roots with IBEW and spent six years as an Assistant Business Manager.
“As a long-time resident of Central Florida, I have dedicated my life to community service and helping others,” said Kenny.
“Understanding the needs of residents & businesses in Cocoa is my priority. I am committed to our community, bringing us all together, and moving us forward in the right direction. I hope to earn your support and vote.”
Kenny’s priorities include:
■ Economic Development: Kenny will work tirelessly to ensure the revitalization of the Gateway to Cocoa Village and beyond to Merritt Island and the Beaches, attracting new businesses to the area, creating jobs, and increasing the standard of living and quality of life in Cocoa.
■ SMART Growth: A steward of environmental responsibility and community development, Jennifer will work to protect environmentally sensitive land and improve environmental conditions.
■ Public Safety: The safety of our citizens and those who work and visit the Cocoa area is critical. Jennifer will work closely with local law enforcement to keep Cocoa a safe place to live, work, and visit.
Kenny continues to serve as a member of the Career Source Brevard Board of Directors. Her mission continues to be helping others to achieve success in their chosen profession and promoting advanced job training opportunities for both youth and adult workers.
She has a deep-held conviction to continue serving her community. Since her days as an apprentice electrician, she has been active in local, state, and national politics, advocating for quality-of-life issues she believes will benefit the lives of individuals, such as housing, social security, health and safety, and many other critical issues.
Kenny resides in Cocoa, where she attends local city meetings and events, engaging with the community whenever possible, spending time with her family, and, most importantly, caring for her elderly parent.
